Why must I pay an excess when the accident is not my fault ?

# this is the first amount payable by the insured irrespective of who was at fault. The excess is not linked to blame.

# Insurers will attempt to recover all costs including your excess, if the other party was at fault

Have I got cover for a BURST / LEAKING geyser ?

# Do you own the building? , if yes , then your insurer will arrange for a geyser replacement . The repairer would issue the required Certificate of Compliance and you would need to pay the excess to them.

# If you are a tenant you need to advise your landlord as you do not have the cover under your own policy .

Do I have to accept second hand parts on my vehicle ?

# Your vehicle damages are assessed by way of a Computerized system and allowance is made for the age of the vehicle. However, as only reputable selected Panel Beaters are used the work is guaranteed.

What does ‘Burglar Alarm Warranty’ mean ?

# This means that you have elected to receive a discounted premium and in doing so you undertake to activate the alarm every time you leave the premises. You are also required to maintain your armed response contract and test your alarm on a regular basis.

Why do I need a damage report and quote for my claim?

# Insurers need to know the cause of damage and if the item is repairable or alternatively needs replacing . You need to provide a quote to show the current replacement value of your item – these can be obtained on line .

Must I specify my Cell Phone ?

# Yes … your cell phone is not covered for use away from your home . You therefore need to add it to your policy. Please check with your provider that they did not automatically add insurance to your contract . If you have lost a phone that is insured – remember to update us with your new phone details .

Do I have automatic Towing and Car Hire Cover ?

# All clients that have comprehensive cover have towing following an accident . Only PERSONAL clients have cover for mechanical breakdown. Commercial clients can add the cover at a cost per vehicle .

# Car hire can be added to your policy – following accident and theft – this applies to all clients and there are different rates depending on the category of vehicle that is selected.

How often must I test my vehicle tracking unit ?

# Each company  will have their own criteria , so it is best to check your contract . Many have an App or WhatsApp facilities . We would suggest that you test a minimum of twice a year if your contract doesn’t give specific periods.
